Profile and account deletion

The Profile page (account menu, top right) manages your identity, appearance, password, and the account itself. The identity, theme, and password sections are covered in Your account, this page documents deletion, the consequential one.

Deleting your account

Delete account at the bottom of the Profile page opens a guided flow. Nothing is deleted until every requirement is met and you confirm, and the requirements are enforced by the server, not just the screen.

1. Review what will be deleted

The dialog loads a live summary, how many projects you own, how many collected responses they hold, how many uploaded files you have (with the private-file count called out separately), and how many participant-submitted files your surveys hold.

2. Acknowledge private files, if you have any

Private files are irrecoverable once deleted. If any exist, a mandatory checkbox makes that explicit, deletion is refused without it.

3. Decide each shared project

Every project that has accepted collaborators requires its own decision

• Transfer ownership to one of that project's collaborators, pick which one. The project survives intact, surveys, responses, files. The new owner stops being listed as a collaborator (they own it now), everyone else keeps access.
• Delete it for everyone, collaborators lose access and all of the project's data and files are removed.

Projects without collaborators are deleted with the account, no decision needed.

4. Confirm your identity

Password accounts confirm with the password. Google-only accounts type the account email instead.

What happens then

Transfers execute first, then the account and everything remaining is permanently removed, projects, responses, participant uploads, assets (public and private), saved questions, choice presets, folders. Files are erased from storage at the byte level, not flagged-deleted. You are signed out and the account is gone. There is no recovery path, export anything you need first from Data and Results.
